Large-Scale Performance Indulis and Ārija: Rainis and Dzirnas Meet Again (2nd Performance) – Riga, November 14, 2026

During Patriotic Week, the large-scale dance performance “Indulis and Ārija” will return to Xiaomi Arena. The second performance will take place on November 14, 2026, at 19:00. More than 400 dancers, the chamber orchestra “Sinfonietta Rīga” and the mixed choir of the Riga Cathedral Choir School will share one stage. The performance is based on Rainis’s story, presented through the stage language of Agris Daņiļevičs’s “Dzirnas” dance school. The choreography was created by Agris Daņiļevičs, the original music was composed by Valters Pūce, and the director is Intars Rešetins-Pētersons. The story focuses on love, choice, belonging, freedom and the inner strength of the human being. The performance will feature students of “Dzirnas”, as well as dancers from TDA “Ogre” and TDA “Lielupe”. Valters Pūce will perform a solo cello part. “Sinfonietta Rīga” will provide live music under the direction of Normunds Šnē, joined by the mixed choir of the Riga Cathedral Choir School under the direction of Jurģis Cābulis and a backing band. The performance is designed as an adventure for several generations at once. It will offer an opportunity to experience the themes of Rainis’s work through the combination of dance, live music and choral sound.

What to expect at the event

“Indulis and Ārija” combines technically demanding, emotionally charged dance with Valters Pūce’s original music. In this large-scale stage story, movement, choir, chamber orchestra and backing band help reveal the themes of Rainis’s work in a contemporary interpretation.

Venue and time

The performance will take place on November 14, 2026, at 19:00 at Xiaomi Arena, 21 Skanstes Street, Riga. Visitors will be admitted from 17:30, and the event is scheduled to end at 21:00.

Tickets

Ticket prices start at €20. A Xiaomi Arena service fee of €2.50 is added to each ticket.
