Sentimental Values: Brants and Vorkale Exhibition in Riga on November 20, 2026
The exhibition “Sentimental Values. Brants and Vorkale” at the Riga Art Nouveau Centre brings together the works of artists Inese Brants and Irīna Vorkale. It will be open for viewing on November 20, 2026. The exhibition is inspired by Art Nouveau heritage and family values. Inese Brants presents porcelain works in the exhibition. At the centre of her work is the transfer of embroidery motifs onto the delicate porcelain material. Blue and red patterns appear on coffee and tea sets, plates, and jugs. Irīna Vorkale presents fine art works in the exhibition. Her paintings reflect the world of women, fashion, sewing, and handicraft traditions. The artist’s source of inspiration is a “Singer” sewing machine inherited by her family, which belonged to her grandmother Elza Kundziņa. Vorkale’s works create the atmosphere of a seamstress’s workshop from the beginning of the 20th century. The exhibition brings together two distinct artistic languages in a unified story about women, beauty, and the imprint of time.
