Porcelain Decorating Workshop “Heroes” – Riga, November 28, 2026
Porcelain Decorating Workshop “Heroes” – Riga, November 28, 2026
The Riga Porcelain Museum invites visitors to the “Heroes” porcelain decorating workshop on November 28, 2026. The workshop is dedicated to creativity inspired by the celebrations of the founding of the Latvian state. Participants are invited to artistically interpret the ideas of the founding and independence of Latvia. The creative process will also focus on people who have contributed to the development of the state and society. Special attention will be given to the diverse roles of women in Latvia’s history, culture, politics, emergency situations and everyday life. The workshop also encourages participants to discover the dishes and decorative objects created by women artists who worked in the porcelain industry. Visitors will create decorations using the decal technique. Shapes can be cut from decal sheets and arranged into an individual composition on a dish. After firing in a ceramic kiln, the decal will fuse into the porcelain glaze. The finished decoration will be durable, and the dish can be used in everyday life. The workshop is led by museum educators and artists Vita Lukstiņa and Astra Ratkeviča.
What to Expect at the Event
Participants will be able to choose ready-made themed decals or adapt them according to their preferences. A single shape can be used on its own or several shapes can be combined into a collage to create a simpler or more elaborate decoration. The workshop’s theme brings together Latvia’s history, culture and people’s experiences.
