Porcelain Decorating Workshop “Heroines” at the Riga Porcelain Museum, November 27, 2026
Porcelain Decorating Workshop “Heroines” at the Riga Porcelain Museum, November 27, 2026
The Riga Porcelain Museum invites you to the “Heroines” porcelain decorating workshop. The workshop is dedicated to creativity in the spirit of patriotic celebrations. Its theme is the founding and independence of the Latvian state. Participants are invited to artistically honour people who have contributed to the development of the country and society. Special attention is given to the diverse role of women in Latvia’s history, culture, politics and everyday life. The workshop also encourages participants to recognise the contributions of women artists who worked in the porcelain industry. Visitors will be able to interpret themes related to Latvia’s history and culture, as well as people’s experiences. The creative process will involve the decal technique. Shapes can be cut from decal sheets and used to create a composition or collage on a dish. After firing in a ceramic kiln, the decoration will fuse into the porcelain glaze and become a durable ornament on the dish.
What to expect
Participants will be able to decorate porcelain dishes using their imagination and ready-made themed decals, which can be used as they are or supplemented according to their preferences. The workshop is led by museum educators and artists Vita Lukstiņa and Astra Ratkeviča. The participation fee includes the selected dish, decorating materials, a consultation with a museum educator and firing of the item.
