Weekend Music: Four Guitars — Zemītis, Zitmanis, Akots, Kupčs — Jūrmala, November 29, 2026

On November 29, 2026, the Riga Guitar Quartet will perform at the Small Hall of Dzintari Concert Hall. Classical guitarists Kaspars Zemītis, Kārlis Matīss Zitmanis, Miks Akots and Kristens Kupčs will perform on stage. The concert will be hosted by Jānis Ozols. The quartet was founded at the end of 2024. It brings together representatives of the new generation of classical guitarists with their teacher and experienced virtuoso Kaspars Zemītis. The programme includes Andrew York’s technically demanding piece “Quiccan”. The audience will also hear music created by the guitarists themselves. The programme features works by Enrique Granados, Zigmars Liepiņš and Emīls Dārziņš. Latvian folk songs and music from the musical “The Sound of Music” will also be performed. The concert is suitable for listeners who wish to discover the diverse colours of the classical guitar in a single afternoon.
