Sentimental Values Exhibition: Brants and Vorkale — Riga, November 21, 2026
On November 21, 2026, the “Riga Art Nouveau Centre” museum will host the exhibition “Sentimental Values: Brants and Vorkale”. The exhibition brings together porcelain works by ceramic artist Inese Brants and paintings by artist Irīna Vorkale. Both artists’ works are inspired by Art Nouveau heritage and family values. Inese Brants focuses on transferring embroidery motifs onto porcelain. Blue and red motifs appear on coffee and tea sets, plates, and jugs. Pigments in corresponding colours are fused into the porcelain glaze. In her paintings, Irīna Vorkale explores the world of women, fashion, sewing, and handicraft traditions. The artist’s source of inspiration is a “Singer” sewing machine that belonged to her family. The exhibition offers an opportunity to discover two different artistic languages in one place. It presents an interplay of Art Nouveau atmosphere, ornament, and the beauty of materials. The exhibition will be on view at the museum until December 6, 2026.
