From October 19 to 22, 2026, thematic days for pupils in Grades 1–4 will take place at Riga Zoo. The event invites children to spend their autumn break learning about the animal world. Each day will focus on a different theme. Participants can look forward to guided tours, practical activities, and creative workshops. Children will be accompanied by zoo specialists and guides throughout the event. The theme on October 19 will be animal body parts and their special abilities. On October 20, attention will be devoted to animal care and well-being. On October 21, pupils will explore the world of birds and make bird feeders. On October 22, participants will study different habitats and their inhabitants. The activities are designed to encourage children to observe animals, take part, and learn through practical tasks. Part of the programme will take place outdoors. This is a suitable opportunity for primary school pupils who want to spend a day of their school break actively and creatively.
What to Expect at the Event
On October 19, children will explore why animals need flippers, long ears, claws, and special teeth, and will also create an imaginary animal of their own. October 20 will include an introduction to caring for pets, the needs of zoo animals, and making environmental enrichment elements. On October 21, there will be a tour of the zoo’s birds and the creation of bird feeders in groups. On October 22, participants will learn about the homes of animals living in forests, meadows, marshes, and other natural areas through tours, practical tasks, and a role-playing game.

The thematic days will take place from October 19 to 22, 2026, at Riga Zoo, Meža prospekts 1, Riga, LV-1014. Visitors may arrive from 9:00 a.m.; the programme starts at 9:30 a.m. and ends at 1:30 p.m.
Tickets
The participation fee is 25 euros per child for one day. To participate, an application form must be completed. Afterwards, the child’s legal representative must submit a signed confirmation of the child’s participation and purchase a ticket for the selected activity.
Important Information for Visitors
- The event is intended for pupils in Grades 1–4.
- Some activities will take place outdoors, so weather-appropriate clothing and footwear are required.
- Bring lunch snacks and a bottle for refilling with water.
