85th Anniversary Concert for Aivars Krūmiņš – Riga, October 11, 2026

A jubilee concert dedicated to the 85th anniversary of composer and wind orchestra arranger Aivars Krūmiņš will take place in Riga. The concert will feature his original compositions from various periods of his creative work. Aivars Krūmiņš is one of Latvia’s most significant creators of wind orchestra music. His work has made an important contribution to Latvia’s wind orchestra culture. Four wind orchestras will perform in the programme. The “Auseklītis” Youth Wind Orchestra is under the artistic direction of Haralds Bārzdiņš. The artistic director of the “Fanfara” Wind Orchestra is Mārcis Miķelsons. Riga Technical University Student Wind Orchestra “SPO” is under the artistic direction of Māris Martinsons. The artistic director of the Ogre Municipality Cultural Centre Wind Orchestra “Horizonts” is Tomass Kokamegi. The concert will be hosted by Gunārs Jākobsons and Gatis Krūmiņš. This will be a musical tribute to an author whose music will be brought to life through the broad and varied sound of wind orchestras.

What to Expect at the Event

The jubilee programme will feature Aivars Krūmiņš’s original compositions created during various stages of his creative career. The meeting of four ensembles will offer an opportunity to experience the composer’s music through different interpretations and orchestral tones.

The concert will take place on October 11, 2026, at 4:00 PM at the “Ziemeļblāzma” Culture Palace, 36 Ziemeļblāzmas Street, Riga.

The ticket price is EUR 5.00.
