Cinema – Film Music. The additional concert will take place in Riga on October 3, 2026, at Riga St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church. The concert is scheduled to begin at 19:00. The evening will focus on 20th- and 21st-century film music performed on the organ. The programme includes Ennio Morricone’s compositions from the films “The Professional” and “The Mission”. The audience will also hear Nino Rota’s music from “The Godfather”. Melodies by John Williams from “Schindler’s List” and “Fiddler on the Roof” will be performed. Raimonds Pauls’ music from “Long Road in the Dunes” will also be represented. Here, film melodies will gain a concert-created life independent of the screen. The organ’s broad range of timbres will form the sonic axis of the programme. It will be complemented by violin, cello and percussion. This ensemble will create a rich, multilayered sound reminiscent of the scale of a large orchestra. Ilona Birģele will play the organ. The violin part will be performed by Gidons Grīnbergs. Irina Viļegžaņina will play the cello. Virginia Laube-Vītiņa will be responsible for the percussion. The musicians will perform in the nave near the altar, allowing the audience to be close to the performance. The church’s historic interior, lighting and visual design will enhance the listening experience. This additional concert is suitable for both film music and classical music enthusiasts. The event will take place in Latvian, and visitors aged six and over may attend. Free admission is not provided.
