Reich Phase: A Chamber Music Event at Hanzas Perons in Riga on October 4, 2026

On October 4, 2026, the chamber music event “Reich Phase” will take place at Hanzas Perons in Riga. It is dedicated to the milestone birthday of American composer Steve Reich. The event is part of a two-evening program taking place on October 3 and 4. The concert is planned in a space created by artist Miķelis Mūrnieks. The program will feature chamber music works from various periods of Steve Reich’s creative career. Marta Spārniņa will perform “Violin Phase” for solo violin and tape. The Perona Quartet will give the Latvian premiere of the string quartet “WTC 9/11”. The quartet features Konstantīns Paturskis, Aleksejs Bahirs, Pēteris Trasuns, and Dace Zālīte-Zilberte. Led by conductor Normunds Šnē, musicians from Sinfonietta Rīga and Perons Percussion, together with pianists Rihards Plešanovs and Evelīna Jēkabsone and a vocal quartet led by Viktorija Majore, will perform “Tehillim”. The evening will offer an opportunity to explore the characteristic sound world of Reich’s music and important works from his oeuvre.
