Valmiera Theatre Guest Performance “My Name Is Calendar” – Dailes Theatre New Hall, Riga, October 30, 2026
Valmiera Theatre will visit Riga with its production of Andris Kalnozols’ work “My Name Is Calendar”. It is a drama of tenderness in three parts. The production is directed by Mārtiņš Eihe, with the dramatisation created by Rasa Bugavičute-Pēce. At the heart of the story is Oskars, who knows the calendar by heart and records his daily experiences in a diary. He has a mother, love and friends, but he sees the world in his own unique way. Together with his friends, Oskars wants to create a performance about the sadness that befalls people when joy turns out to be an empty technique. To make it succeed, he must find the courage to reveal himself to others. The production is based on the main character of Andris Kalnozols’ debut novel, a bright-hearted person with an original view of the order of things. The set design and costumes are by Pamela Butāne, the lighting designer is Gatis Priednieks, and the music was composed by Emīls Zilberts. The cast includes Ingus Kniploks, Regīna Devīte, Aigars Apinis, Anna Nele Āboliņa, Mārtiņš Liepa, Kārlis Freimanis, Inese Ramute, Diāna Krista Stafecka and Kārlis Dzintars Zahovskis. The production received the “Spēlmaņu nakts” award in the “Small-Format Production of the Year” category for the 2021/2022 season.
